TOBACCO PROGRAM: PRENATAL CARE

This program addresses the dangers of tobacco and second-hand smoke that affect Latino pregnant women and Latino women of childbearing age.  Through this program, the Indiana Latino Institute, Inc. (ILI) educates Latinas about:

  • Tobacco use risks, including those of second-hand smoke.
  • How to provide brief cessation services.
  • How to provide referrals for women who want to quit smoking.
  • “Hazlo Por Tu Familia/Do It For Your Family” (a smoke free pledge which seeks to make every home and auto tobacco-free).

Currently, the Prenatal Care program is offered in Hamilton, Lake, Marion, Porter, St. Joseph, and Tippecanoe counties. ILI is committed in promoting a healthier life for Latinas in Indiana and for their unborn babies through awareness, education, and empowerment.
